Ah, the beautiful South Coast, home to over 400 miles of coastline and officially the sunniest place in the UK!
Here in the south, we’re blessed with stacks of picturesque places to enjoy with our pooches.
With only a month to go until the first day of summer, we’ve put together a few must-visit local summer dog walking spots to help inspire you.
Stokes Bay
If you and your furry friend are looking for a perfect spot to explore the Solent with jaw-dropping views of the Isle of Wight, Stokes Bay is the place for you.
Located south of Gosport, between Porstmouth and Lee-on-the-Solent, this popular spot has plenty for you to have a memorable summer dog walk. Enjoy walking along the Stokes Bay promenade, home to the Golden Mile run, soak up the Solent air and let your pooch run along the pebble beach.
There are also large expanses of fields and a woodland area, so your dog will have plenty of space and different terrains to explore! With a cafe located at each end of the promenade, you’ll even be able to stop for a breather and take in the view.
Royal Victoria Country Park
This popular destination is sure to get your dog’s tail wagging. A real feast for the eyes, Royal Victoria Country Park will certainly give you lots to explore.
From huge expanses of parkland, stunning woodland and seashore overlooking Southampton water, it is clear to see why this is a highly popular dog walking destination.
Located in Netley, just a couple of miles east of Southampton, Royal Victoria County park is free and open seven days a week. After fun exploring the park, you can even take advantage of the on-site dog wash – perfect!
Riverside Park
If you fancy a picturesque walk along the river, there is no better place than Southampton’s Riverside Park.
Riverside Park is a 32 hectare spot located along the pretty River Itchen, in Bitterne Park, and is a highly popular dog walking spot. Your furry friend can enjoy a refreshing dip and there’s plenty of wildlife to spot, including swans and ducks meandering up the river.
You and your pooch can enjoy a leisurely stroll taking in the views and losing track of time in this pretty spot. Many rowers take advantage of the river and there’s even a minature train for the kids too! Why not stop for a picnic and enjoy one of Southampton’s much-loved beauty spots?
